The Walt Disney Company Reports Third Quarter Earnings for Fiscal 2025

In the third quarter of fiscal 2025, The Walt Disney Company reported revenues of $23.7 billion, up 2% from $23.2 billion in the same quarter last year. Net income before taxes increased 4% to $3.2 billion, while diluted earnings per share (EPS) rose significantly to $2.92, compared to $1.43 in the prior year. The company's Direct-to-Consumer segment saw a revenue increase of 6%, with operating income improving by $365 million to $346 million. Disney+ and Hulu subscriptions reached a combined total of 183 million, marking a gain of 2.6 million compared to the previous quarter. However, the Entertainment segment's operating income dropped by $179 million to $1.0 billion. In the Experiences segment, operating income grew by 13% to $2.5 billion, benefiting from increased guest spending and higher volumes at parks and resorts. The Sports segment also reported an increase in operating income, up 29% to $1.0 billion, despite a decline in domestic ESPN operating income due to higher programming costs. The company generated $3.7 billion in cash from operations during the quarter, a 41% increase from the same period last year, and reported free cash flow of $1.9 billion, which is 53% higher than the previous year. Disney plans to increase its total subscriptions for Disney+ and Hulu by more than 10 million in the next quarter.
